About Deepa Bhat

Vidushi Smt. Deepa Bhat, BE (E&E), MCA(IGNOU), MFA(Bharatanatyam) is an exceptional Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher and choreographer.


She began her formal training in Bharatanatyam under the able guidance of Guru Vandya Srinath of Bhramara School of Performing Arts, Bengaluru.


She owes her advanced training to her Guru, Dr. M R Krishnamurthy (an alumnus of Kalakshetra, Chennai), at Kalakshiti, Bengaluru, following the Pandanallur Kalakshetra style.

Having completed her Rangapravehsa in 2002, dance took Vid. Deepa Bhat across the country.


Ankura by Karnataka Nrithya Kala Parishat, Bangalore; Rasika Ranjani Sabha, Mylapore; Indian Institite of Science, Bangalore, for Prahashini;


Rasa Sanje by Venkatesh Natya Mandiram; Articulate Festival, Mysore; Sri Kashi Vishwanatha Temple, Varanasi; are a few from the long list of performances she has to her credit.

Vid. Deepa Bhat is a B Grade artist of Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra and of Song & Drama Division, New Delhi.


Her dissertation titled “Kannada Bhavageethe and its Adaptation to Dance” for the MFA course in Kalai Kaveri College of Fine Arts,


Affiliated to Bharatidasan University has been a remarkable feat in her dancing profession.

She has choreographed several dance ballets like Dances of India, Seeta Kalyana, Vasudaiva Kutumbakam, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, Daksha Yagna, Girija Kalyana, Modalondipe Ninage Gananatha, Shri Ramayanam, Navarasa Devi, Devi Tubhyam Namaha, Navavidha Bhakthi among many others and also “Keechaka”, a dance drama.


Her choreographies have been presented and acclaimed in several prestigious stages. Recognizing her accomplishments in Bharatanatyam, she has been awarded numerous honours and awards.

She has been teaching this divine art form in her own school, Nrithya Kuteera since 2004.


Many students of Nrithya Kuteera have completed their Rangapraveshs, Gandharva exams, Ravindra Bharati University exams and state level exams conducted by KSEEB in flying colours. She has worked as an examiner in KSEEB and as a judge for several dance competitions.


Through performing and teaching, Deepa Bhat wishes to spread the beauty and flavour of this divine art form to the youngsters and art lovers.
